• I was born into a family of great talkers, but didn’t develop language skills myself until I was 5. Making things was my first language.

Today, when I’m working in the studio, there is an ongoing conversation with color and composition and surface. It might be a whisper or a shout. A sensitively delivered communication or an outpouring of vital expression. Back and forth it goes, repeatedly listening and responding to what the work calls for.

Engaging in process is where the energy ignites - In my work, I often combine printmaking techniques with painting and collage in order to reach what I refer to as 'poems I can't write' - work that attempts to capture a quality, a moment or an observation.
